Dakota Gold came to Buffalo Creek from Diabolique Stud Farms. He is a very dashing stallion, with such gorgeous looks and suave movement that we couldn’t resist offering to buy him. We have not been displeased. In Dakota’s first two shows under Buffalo Creek ownership, he did not perform as well as we had expected. We came to the conclusion that he was perhaps homesick, or just not settled in well yet here in South Dakota. So we all took a little extra time up with him, and by the time we held our own show here at Buffalo Creek, Dakota Gold was up to par, and had some very nice finishes. We do not expect any less of him in the future.

Dakota Gold is a very intelligent stallion. He has an awesome cow brain, and knows every move a cow will make before the cow even knows. He is very light on his feet, and is a great cutting horse. He is also a top class reining horse, and responds with such ease and grace that he is a favorite of the Buffalo Creek riding staff.

Because of his age, we are planning on only using Dakota Gold in Halter, Trail, Cutting, Working Cow, and Reining classes for the rest of 2008. In 2009, he will compete only in Halter, Cutting, and Reining. Dakota Gold will be retired in 2010 and be only used for stud for the rest of his days.
